Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society provides shelter, education, advocacy, and assistance for animals and people in need. Dakin is a private, non-profit organization serving the communities of Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties of Massachusetts.

The Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center provides animal control services for Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, West Springfield and Hampden, Massachusetts. Our animal control officers respond to routine service calls Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Emergency response for ill, injured or aggressive animals is available 24 hours a day. Our mission is to provide comprehensive animal control services and programs to our communities for the protection of animals, public health and safety, and the environment. Where appropriate, the Center will responsibly place unclaimed animals into new adoptive homes.
